Debian-Java Meeting in Oldenburg?

Von Joey Schulze, 16.8.2005
There could be a small Debian-Java meeting during this year's Linux developers meeting.

We've been approached by the Debian-Java people who want to hold a small developers conference and are looking for a host. They plan to work together for a long weekend with approximately 20 people. One option would be to piggy-back this meeting on the Oldenburg meeting and to reuse the existing infrastructure.

The Debian-Java people are working hard towards a fully fledged free Java implementation that is able to run more than just demo programs. The current Debian release (3.1, codename: sarge) already contains improved and new free Java runtime environments that are able to run a lot of Java software which is included as well.
